SEAOHUN 2019 Engaging Intergovernmental Organization program

With the support of U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and One Health Workforce project, the SEAOHUN 2019 Engaging Intergovernmental Organization Program was successfully organized in Bangkok during 29 April – May 3, 2019 welcoming the selected 28 participants who are mid- to senior-level processionals working in governmental sectors and universities from One Health University Network countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Thailand, expansion countries including Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos as well as Bangladesh. IVI’s 19th International Vaccinology Course

An IVI (International Vaccine Institute) Fellowship is a kind of scholarship program which grants financial support to selected researchers from low- and middle-income countries with potential leadership skills or showing high potential for making contributions to public health in their country. This program provides a comprehensive overview of vaccinology with a focus on practicality. Beginning with a refresher in epidemiology and immunology, the program moves through the vaccine development spectrum from applied topics in discovery to development to delivery. SEAOHUN 2019 Visiting Philippines

With the support of USAID, FAO in the Philippines, Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), and Dr. Carolyn Benigno, SEAOHUN Executive Director met with five universities in the Philippines on 15 May 2019 in Manila to introduce SEAOHUN and discuss how the Philippines might set up One Health university network to join SEAOHUN in the future. The meeting ended positively with the five universities - Benguet State University, Central Luzon State University, University of the Philippines, Visayas State University, and Central Mindanao University - agreeing to form a core group to discuss further collaboration among themselves and with SEAOHUN.

Funding Opportunity-Aquaculture and Fisheries

The Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Fish has issued a request for applications to support research for development in Feed the Future target and aligned countries in west Africa, east Africa, and Asia. The lab intends to fund approximately 10 proposals for up to three years and with budgets $200,000-$800,000 USD; the expected average size will be $500,000 USD. Current lab activities are in Bangladesh, Nigeria, Kenya, and Zambia. Other Feed the Future target and aligned countries may be considered if sound justification is provided. Areas of inquiry include advancing the productivity frontier, reducing and mitigating risk to fish production systems, and improving human outcomes. Success
