GRANT OPPORTUNITY! "Diminishing Dengue in the Indo-Pacific with Climate Services"

Dengue is a widespread, climate-sensitive infectious disease – approximately 4 billion people live in at-risk areas – transmitted from person-to-person by the Aedes mosquito vector. Dengue virus may infect nearly 400 million people each year, with 100 million of those manifesting clinically. In 500,000 cases per year, the virus leads to hemorrhagic fever, causing hospitalization and, in some cases, death. Beyond the death and pain it causes, dengue can have a serious impact on economic sectors, in particular those that depend on outdoor workers.

An opportunity from the U.S. Department of State to climate services for dengue in the Indo-Pacific region. Eligibility is limited to U.S. Non-profit/non-governmental organizations (NGOs) having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, or overseas-based non-profit/non-governmental organizations, U.S. or overseas private/state institutions of higher education, and public international organizations.
