Dr. Mayfong Mayxay, Chair of LAOHUN, University of Health Sciences (UHS, Laos)

Professor Mayfong Mayxay is the President of University of Health Sciences, Ministry of Health, Lao PDR; Chairman of the National Ethics Committee for Health Research; President of the Lao Infectious Disease Society; and Chairman of Lao One Health University Network (LAOHUN).

He initiated many important academic entities in Laos, including a clinical research unit called “Lao-Oxford-Mahosot Hospital-Wellcome Trust Research Unit” at Mahosot Hospital; the first Lao Ethical Committee and the first Lao Medical Journal. He co-founded the Lao One Health University Network, the Lao Infectious Disease Society and recently, the Unit for Health Evidence and Policy at the Lao University of Health Sciences. Professor Mayfong is an outstanding researcher recognized internationally and locally with more than 25-years experiences in both clinical and public health research.

He won the Ambulatory Pediatric Associational Research Award in 2004 in USA and he received the Encouragement Award from the Hitachi Global Foundation Asia Innovation Award 2020. So far, he has published ~ 288 papers which are indexed in Pubmed.
