Dr. Melbourne R. Talactac, Chair of PhilOHUN, Cavite State University (CvSU, Philippine)

Dr. Melbourne R. Talactac is the Vice President for Research and Extension of Cavite State University and currently serves as Chairperson of the Philippine One Health University Network. A distinguished veterinarian and researcher, he specializes in veterinary parasitology, immunology, and vaccine development, with a strong focus on zoonotic and vector-borne diseases. Dr. Talactac earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in the Philippines and completed his doctoral training in Japan, where he conducted advanced research on host–parasite interactions and immunological responses.

He has led numerous nationally and internationally funded research projects and has contributed significantly to strengthening One Health initiatives in the country through interdisciplinary collaboration among human, animal, and environmental health sectors. As a research leader, he has championed innovation, capacity building, and policy engagement to address emerging infectious diseases. His work continues to support scientific advancement, public health preparedness, and sustainable development in the Philippines and beyond.
