Dr. Remil L. Galay, Vice Chairperson, PhilOHUN, University of the Philippine Los Banos

Dr. Remil L. Galay is a professor in the Department of Veterinary Paraclinical Sciences at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of the Philippines Los Baños, and currently serves as Director of the UPLB Zoonoses Center. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (cum laude) from UPLB in 2007 and his Doctor of Veterinary Science from Yamaguchi University in 2015.


Dr. Galay’s research focuses on vector biology and vector-borne diseases in animals. He has conducted numerous studies on the epidemiology and molecular diagnosis of tick-borne diseases, the detection of acaricide resistance in ticks and alternative tick control, and the epidemiology, management, and control of canine heartworm. Dr. Galay has also led significant initiatives that advance the One Health approach to zoonoses prevention and control in the Philippines. He has received several awards for his significant contributions to veterinary science, research, and public health in the Philippines.
