SEAOHUN 2019 Engaging Intergovernmental Organization program

With the support of U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and One Health Workforce project, the SEAOHUN 2019 Engaging Intergovernmental Organization Program was successfully organized in Bangkok during 29 April – May 3, 2019 welcoming the selected 28 participants who are mid- to senior-level processionals working in governmental sectors and universities from One Health University Network countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Thailand, expansion countries including Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos as well as Bangladesh. The five-day program comprised of:

Visit to

  • USAID Regional Development Mission for Asia (USAID RDMA)

  • Food and Agriculture Organization Regional Office of the United Nations for Asia and the Pacific (FAO-RAP)

  • Emergency Operations Center, Department of Disease Control, Thailand Ministry of Public Health

  • PREDICT-2 project site in Wat Luang Sub-District, Panatnikom, Chonburi

Presentation sessions by

  • World Organization for Animal Health Sub-Regional Representative for South East Asia (OIE SRR-SEA)

  • Charoen Pokphand Foods

  • Thai Coordinating Unit for One Health

  • Mekong Basin Disease Surveillance Secretariat

  • Bureau of Epidemiology, Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health Thailand

  • Thailand Ministry of Public Health – U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Collaboration (TUC)

  • World Bank Group

  • Fleming Fund Management Agent

The participants had ample opportunities to network among themselves and with experts from the partner organizations while learning from their best practices on One Health advocacy, disease and disaster surveillance, Thailand local health system and so on. The participants took with them meaningful friendship and connections with knowledge and confidence to improve their services upon their return to their home countries.
