Strengthening One Health Education: SEAOHUN at the 11th One Health Bangladesh Conference

From 12-14 June 2023, Chevron supported the SEAOHUN (Southeast Asia One Health University Network) and Indian representatives to participate in the highly successful 11th One Health Bangladesh Conference titled "One Health Approach for Tackling Antimicrobial Resistance and Pandemics” in Dhaka. The conference brought together nearly 800 experts, academics, and stakeholders from across the nation and internationally to discuss collaboration, research exchange, evidence-based decision-making, and capacity-building initiatives.

Throughout the conference, Chevron Bangladesh, SEAOHUN and Indian representatives exchanged and engaged in productive discussions with various partners to promote our networks, explore further collaboration, and strengthen connections in One Health. Dr. Vipat Kuruchittam, Executive Director of SEAOHUN gave the presentation at the Plenary Session on One Health Continual Education and Networking and we witnessed the positive outcome and constructive engagement among the group. The Conference left its mark as a collaborative platform to drive the establishment of the One Health University in Bangladesh and India, and to bring about the implementation of recognition mechanisms regionwide. Furthermore, the representatives from India extended the invitation to SEAOHUN and Bangladesh universities to join the One Health Conference at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University in November 2023.

SEAOHUN remains committed to leveraging the connections and insights gained from this conference to address critical health challenges and contribute to a sustainable future. Through collaborative efforts and a One Health approach, we firmly believe in our ability to effectively tackle issues related to antimicrobial resistance and pandemics.
