USAID - One Health Workforce at GHTechX virtual conference
The Global Health Science and Practice Technical Exchange #GHTechX virtual conference is coming up!
The USAID One Health Workforce – Next Generation Project is providing a pre-recorded 30-minute panel session with live presenter chat that is scheduled for Thursday, April 22 from 9:15 - 9:45 AM EDT (Washington DC time zone).
Panelists from Africa, Southeast Asia, and the United States have come together to share their experiences
on the innovations, challenges, and opportunities associated with COVID-19 pandemic responses. Professor
Woutrina Smith will moderate the session. Dr. Irene Naigaga will speak about the Africa One Health
University Network (AFROHUN) COVID-19 risk communication and community engagement activities
across Africa. Ms. Olesya Kochkina will share the successes of the Southeast Asia One Health University
Network (SEAOHUN) student innovation competitions to develop COVID-19 risk communication and
community engagement strategies. Dr. Susan Michaels-Strasser will discuss rapid development of a series
of online learning modules which were delivered synchronously and asynchronously using the Articulate
platform, and how existing tele-mentoring infrastructure was leveraged to train clinical staff on topics
including the origins, modes of transmission and clinical manifestations of the novel coronavirus. Dr. Bruce
Struminger will share global successes using the ECHO virtual community of practice platform for engaging
in multidisciplinary challenges and solutions as the pandemic unfurled.
